Vamp Up Your Look This Fall With Our Favorite Goth-Inspired Makeup
This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday, will feature a full moon, and also happens to be the first day of daylight savings—the perfect storm!
But, sadly, a lot of the festivities have been put on hold due to COVID-19. Womp womp.
Fear not though, Kinder Beauties! Just because your plans have changed doesn’t mean you can’t get into the Halloween spirit.
We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite ghoulish cosmetics to help summon your inner-goth kid.
Oh, and because laboratories are an actual living horror film for animals, we’ve made sure that everything on this list is 100-percent cruelty-free and vegan.
1. Emani Prismatic Lipstick (in Bewitched)
A deep burgundy lip is perfect for the spooky season, whether it’s for Halloween night or your day-to-day autumn look. Emani’s Prismatic Lipstick is unique because it’s two shades in one. You can wear each color separately, or layer them for a custom shade or ombre lips. We love this product so much that we included it in our special limited Halloween collection—the Bewitching Boo-ty Box (which sold out in just one weekend).
2. Black Moon Cosmetics Cosmic Eye Dust
One can’t mention gothic makeup without conjuring Black Moon Cosmetics. Black Moon combines the darkly with the colorful and shiny to create ethereal makeup in out-of-this-world packaging. All of their products are paraben-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and vegan. Right now, we’re obsessing with the multi-faceted Cosmic Eye Dust, shown here in Martian.
3. Chella Eyeliner Pen (in Black)
Once you try a black liquid eyeliner pen, you’ll never go back. Create a perfect thin or thick wing with ease, and use the pen for small details like drawing stars, swirls, or other shapes to complete your luscious look. Chella’s silky pen glides on easily and lasts until you wash it off. If you’ve been following Kinder Beauty for a while, you’ve probably noticed that we’re in love with this company and have featured Chella products several times in our subscription boxes. In fact, the company’s clear eyebrow gel is included in each of our current subscription boxes—the October Magnolia and Iris collections.
4. Rituel de Fille Rare Light Crème Luminizer (in Ghost Light)
Who says gothic makeup has to be drab? Rituel de Fille’s creme luminizers are packed with pigments that subtly shift and transform to create a gorgeous glow. This award-winning product is the perfect shade for the season, and its name is so fitting, isn’t it? Every Rituel de Fille product is made in-house with the fewest ingredients possible and without synthetic dyes, fragrances, parabens, phthalates, talc, or plastic-based glitters.
5. Lime Crime Venus Immortalis Eyeshadow Palette
This gorgeous eyeshadow palette’s stunning packaging glows in the dark. If that’s not enough reason to add it to your cart right now, then it’s also worth mentioning that the eight smoky shades are perfect for the season, while also timeless enough to rock year-round. The palette includes matte, foil, iridescent, and metallic shades. Lime Crime is a fully vegan company, so you can rest assured everything this brand has to offer is bunny-approved.
6. Folly Fire Creamy Matte Lipstick in Mosh Pit Gal
Black lipstick is a Halloween makeup staple that you need in your life. Don’t have a costume? Feeling festive? Swipe on some black lipstick and you’re good to go. We love Folly Fire’s fragrance-free, non-drying, and long-wear formula that’s infused with argan oil. Folly Fire lipstick has been featured in one of our past Kinder Beauty Boxes, and our bloggers have praised the lipsticks as well as the brand’s line of fur-free makeup brushes.
7. Lunatick Cosmetic Labs High Definition Microfinish Pressed Powder
Don’t be scared! This setting powder nestled in an adorable Ouija board planchette may look ghostly, but it actually provides a translucent finish that works for any skin tone or texture. This silky powder can be used to set makeup for a matte and photo ready finish, or on bare skin to combat shine. You can even use it to mattify any lip product.
8. Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers Paint Pots
Whether you’re wanting to add some bold color to your eyes, cheeks, or lips, or you’re going to do full costume makeup for the big day, these paint pots are the perfect potion for the job. In red, black, or iridescent, they’re free of beeswax, carmine, and other nasty animal-derived ingredients. As an added bonus, you can pick them up at nearly any drugstore. Just be sure to check the label when shopping. While Wet N Wild doesn’t test any of its products on animals, not all of them are vegan.

Times are a bit scary right now, and that can be stressful. But whether you’re spending Halloween with friends (from six feet apart outside) or chilling at home watching Hocus Pocus, makeup can be a fun way to express creativity, focus on self-care, and get into the Halloween spirit. Just remember to always shop cruelty-free and vegan!
