5 Ways To Be Kinder In 2021, And Beyond
Beauties, 2021 has been a whirlwind so far. We've experienced ups and down, but our focus has been on channeling optimism, hope, and of course, kindness. With that in mind, we asked our Kinder Beauty community (that's you!) to share the ways they plan to be even Kinder through the remainder of 2021, and beyond. With over one-hundred responses, to say we were moved would be the understatement of the year! Ready to be inspired? Then keep scrolling.
1. Give a stranger a compliment.
A few kind words can go a long way, don’t you think? Our community member Sydney Paley said, “Everyone you pass by on the street has a story. You never know what they might be facing that day, week, month, or year. Giving someone a compliment as simple as ‘I like your shirt’ or ‘Your makeup looks beautiful’ might be exactly what they needed to hear to keep going. Plus, it costs you nothing to be nice to someone, so why wouldn’t you want to spread a little kindness?” We couldn’t agree with you more, Sydney!
2. Support a small business.
Now more than ever, small businesses need our support. Even if you don’t have enough money to purchase a product or service, Morgan Wilson told us that there are more ways than one to show your support. “Whether it’s commenting on their Instagram posts or writing a positive review, these are simple yet effective ways to let a small business know you love and care about them. Every like, comment, share, review, and of course purchase, goes farther than you think!” We're right there with you! (Incidentally, one of our favorite parts of Kinder Beauty is that we get to introduce you to so many smaller beauty businesses, which we get to feature in the Kinder Beauty subscription boxes!)
3. Pay for the person behind you.
Don’t drive away from Starbucks just yet! While you enjoy your delicious soy latte, let the person behind you enjoy theirs, "on the house." (That is, on you!) Anesa Estorga said, “I’ve had it happen to me, and it’s such a pleasant surprise! It sometimes creates a ripple effect, encouraging other customers to do it as well.” And who wouldn’t want a ripple effect of kindness?
4. Donate to people in need.
From canned goods to used clothes, no donation goes unappreciated. Samantha Griffith said, “My favorite act of kindness is to go to someone in need on Christmas Eve and leave a bag of gifts for the family and kids. Signing it as Santa, of course!” Whether it’s during the holidays or afterwards, donating to others truly is the gift that keeps on giving all year long. (Another thing we love about Kinder? Our charitable giving program! To date, we've donated nearly $35,000 to animal rights and environmentalist organizations! This is an ongoing program of ours, so by being a part of our community, you are a part of this giving arm. So ... thank you!!)
5. Share a smile
Smiling releases endorphins, thus making you instantly a little bit happier. And according to Suela Barbullushi, the easiest way to spread kindness is through a smile, so it’s a win-win for everyone! Suela says, “Sometimes, all a person might need is a smile. And the best thing? Kindness doesn‘t cost a thing, yet it is still one of the most valuable things in the world.” That certainly made us smile, Suela.
With these wonderful suggestions in mind, we leave you with one question: How will you continue to spread kindness through the remainder of 2021, and beyond?
While you're noodling on that, remember: There’s always room for more in our Kinder Beauty Community. Join the Kinder Beauty Facebook group today!
