4 Ways the Kinder Beauty Team is Focusing on Radical Self-Care

These are trying times for all of us, and focusing on wellness and radical self-care is absolutely paramount.

But given the current state of the world, it's completely normal to freak out sometimes anyway.

Here at Kinder, we are committed to bringing you the very best in ethical beauty, as well as useful information about clean, cruelty-free, vegan products so that you have everything you need to take care of the most important person in your world ... YOU!

And since we're a small team, we're also checking in with one another regularly, making sure our friends and colleagues are healthy and safe. We're a close-knit group and each of us is doing our part to step up our self-care regiments.

Here's how we're each getting through this.

1. Take a walk, take a bath

"Because I have a little one to care for, my 'me-time' is limited. But one thing I've implemented during this quarantine time is a daily walk and evening bath. Those two things bring me so much peace and time to reflect or just relax."
-Daniella Monet, Co-Founder

Daniella's go-to product these days: "To make my baths a little extra special, I like to add some Little Moon Essentials mineral bath salts and a few drops of the Serenity massage oil."

2. Go within

“I have to say, I’m enjoying this self-isolation period a bit too much. I miss my friends and family and going to classes, but it’s also been a unique opportunity to be still, go inwards, and find out what really matters in my life. I’m not sure we’ll ever have a moment like this again—such a profound reprieve from the constant hustle. So I am counting my blessings that I am able to use this time to go slower, have long conversations with friends, read big books, and do some deep thinking. I’ve tried out a lot of lurid eyeshadow colors I had always been curious about, I’ve started a new French course, and I am much more present with my cat. My new self-care habit in isolation is to listen to the Hayhouse podcast each morning, which has a new spiritual teacher or daily meditation, and manages to be a source both of company and sanity!”
-Evanna Lynch, Co-Founder

Evanna’s go-to product these days: “A good night’s sleep is super important, especially during these stressful times. I love Dr. Botanicals Pomegranate Sleep Mask, which is the perfect hydrating overnight treatment, and makes me feel like I’m dialing up my self-love.”

3. Turn off everything else for an hour each day

"I've been blocking out an hour each day for 'self-care.' Sometimes that means doing an online yoga class, other days it is a hot bath or just sitting in the backyard and reading a book. Anything that allows me to be present and focus on something other than what's happening on Twitter, in the news or with work."
-Andrew Bernstein, CEO & Co-Founder

Andrew's go-to product these days: "My wife and I are expecting our first baby in July, so part of my quarantine means building the nursery. On top of my self-care, I'm finding the Journeymen deodorant very helpful for all the nervous sweating I'm doing lately. Plus, my wife loves the blend of cypress and sage."

4. Let the dogs show you how to trust, laugh, bask in the sun

"My wife and I started fostering an elderly dog named Birdie, but then adopted her two days later. Birdie and our other two little old dogs are making sure we are getting outside in the sunshine every day to walk them, and staying grounded in the moment as much as possible. I'm inspired by their zest for life, despite the horrors they've seen, and am regularly reminded to recommit to the now instead of getting too stuck in future-tripping."
-Jasmin Singer, Director of Content & Partnerships

Jasmin's go-to product these days: "Franklin & Whitman's Clarifying Formula Face Mask. Using this is a cue for me to pay attention to my bodily needs—whether that's caring for my largest organ (my skin!), or making sure I'm hydrating enough and taking my vitamins."

Before we go, we want to make sure you know that whatever you are feeling right now is totally okay.

Don't judge yourself too harshly, Just stay in, be patient and gentle, and remember that self-love can go a long way.
