3 Cruelty-Free and Vegan St. Patrick’s Day-Inspired Green Hair Dyes
St. Patrick’s Day is one of our favorite times of year to kick back with friends and our favorite green beverages of choice, all while celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish (shout out to our amazing Irish co-founder, Evanna Lynch!). And just because the big festivities have been postponed this year doesn’t mean you can’t still honor the day in style. What better way to celebrate than to switch things up and start shamrocking a new green hair color!
Unfortunately, some hair dye brands still contribute to cruel animal testing. But worry not! We’ve compiled a list of five cruelty-free and vegan hair color brands that offer superb green shades. Whether you want something pastel, vibrant, or a mossy tone, you’ll get lucky and find the perfect green shade.
Arctic Fox
Arctic Fox hair colors are some of the most highly pigmented dyes we’ve ever used. Designed to stain less than other brands, Arctic Fox smells amazing, is super conditioning, and is free from drying alcohols and harsh chemicals. We also love that the company donates a portion of its sales to animal charities. Arctic Fox offers three incredible green shades: Phantom Green, Iris Green, and Neverland.
Good Dye Young
Good Dye Young was founded by Hayley Williams, singer of the band Paramore. The semi-permanent hair color is made up of a cream base, ultra-bright professional pigments, sunflower extract, and bergamot essential oil. The hair color comes in a super-bright green shade called Kowabunga that’s sure to grab lots of attention. The company also sells a lightening kit, so you can get everything you need to go green in one stop. Score!
Overtone
We’ve finally found our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Overtone is life-changing, especially for those with dry or damaged hair. The hair color feels more like an ultra-hydrating mask than a dye, which is probably why the products are called “coloring conditioners.” Light and bright hair colors show up best on lightened hair, but for those of you commitment-phobes, the company recently released a line of hair colors designed to be used on brown hair. Overtone offers the following green shades: Green for Brown Hair, Extreme Green, Vibrant Green, and Pastel Green.
Note: Most bright and pastel shades work best on platinum hair. In order to achieve the results shown above, you may need to have your hair lightened before applying. Always read instructions on any hair color product before using.
Also, a product appearing in our blog is not an official Kinder Beauty endorsement. While every product we feature in an article is cruelty-free and vegan, these products do not necessarily meet all of our strict brand standards for curation in one of our boxes.
